| Background: : One of the things Z32 owners like to do is rewire their fog lights so that when the fog light button is in the on position and the lights are on, the fog light will be on as well. Out of the factory, when the high beams are turned on, the fog lights are automatically turned off. This simple procedure bypasses the factory setup. : One of the uses Z32 owners find for this simple modification is the flashing of other owners, to say hello of course. : The only things you'll need are a phillips head screwdriver, a short length of small guage wire and a wire cutting/stripping tool. : Procedure:
: 1. Locate the light control pod on the left side of the steering wheel. I hope you know where it is by now. : 2. On the underside you'll find two screws, unscrew these and remove the face of the pod. : 3. Locate the middle harness and take a look, you might want it disconnect it from the pod for easier access. : 4. Cut and strip both ends of your short length of wire and with it connect the green/yellow wire to the nearest ground (black). Either simply shove the wire into the harness or go to town splicing. I'm just too lazy to do that. : 5. Reconnect the harness to the pod, replace the pod face where it should be and screw in the two screws on the bottom. : 6. Now you should be able to turn on your high beams and fog lights at the same time. : Adam A. : Special thanks to Wolf [Pittsburgh], from whom I edited the writeup html, and JaimeZX for writing the original fog light rewrite FAQ. Thanks to z32.org for hosting the pictures also. : Back to TECH |
